How Many of You Remember.....
The Dells Report 20??
(Click on underlined links for photo's) It was a dark and starry night as the trailers and motor homes neared the
campsite at the Dells Motor Speedway. The eerie sounds of generators moaned in
the distance as we slowly inched our way into our cleverly saved spots for the
night.
As Bedore assembled his 900 square foot tent behind the Veugeler trailer, Kip
was in his motor home, captivated by his rotating pizza cooker, slowly counting
the laps until it was finished.
The ebony darkness was soon replaced with a roaring fire that filled the
night with a glow that drew everyone like moths to a flame. After a few beers
Kip decided to pass around the peace pipe, and everyone joined in…even Bob!
As the hours went by and everyone got sillier, Rob soon shocked Kip by giving
him a kiss, undaunted, Kip was quick to reply. I honestly don’t think I’ve ever
laughed so much in my life!
As time went by one of the group was getting tired, which with our group is
never a good thing. Soon our feature winner, Mr. Chris Bedore, was out like a
light. Now we were really going to have some fun, we all laughed as Benkert
went to work….One….Two….Two and a Half…Three. Who would have thought Benkert
was so talented, huh?
Well every dog has his day, and sure enough, once the sun was high in the
sky, Benkert made the awful mistake of finally falling asleep, allowing his prey
to become the hunter…Ready…Aim…Fire!
RORI would like
to thank Jeff Meyers for all his hard work in setting up this years Small Car
Nationals.
Thank's Jeff for including us.
Rick "Cupcake"
Corso Takes Championship!

September 13, 2008
- Dells Raceway Park - It would be an early start to the Dells today and mother
nature had obviously been given a bribe or two as clouds loomed above and
raindrops began to fall. This being our last race of the season everyone
had hoped for one last great day of racing, but mother nature won out. A warm
CONGRATULATIONS to Rick Corso and his pitman Dave "Brown Eye" Nett for taking this years
Championship!!
Ode to Corso
Sung to the tune of "The Gambler" by Kenny Rogers
On a warm
summer's evenin', headed for the racetrack,
I met up with Rick Corso; we were both too wired to eat.
So we took turns a starin', at the cooler in the backseat
'Til boredom overtook us, and he began to speak.
He said, "Norm,
I've made my life out of eatin’ at the races,
And knowin' who had cupcakes by the way they held their eyes.
So if you don't mind my sayin', I can see you're out of french fries,
For a taste of your Pepsi, I'll give you some advice."
So I handed him
my bottle and he drank down my last swallow.
Then he saw my Krispy Kreme, and asked me for a bite.
And the night got deathly quiet, and his face lost all expression.
Said, "If you're gonna eat the snacks, boy, ya gotta learn to eat ‘em right.
You got to know
when to munch 'em, know when to crunch 'em,
Know when to use a spoon, or use a bun.
You never count your cookies, when Rob’s sittin' at the table.
There'll be time enough for sharin' when the snackin's done.
Ev'ry snacker
knows that the secret to survivin'
Is knowin' what to throw away and knowing what to keep.
'Cause ev'ry cake's a winner and ev'ry cake's a loser,
And the best that you can hope for is a nice ice-cream treat."
When he'd
finished speakin', he turned back towards the cooler,
Ate two more Oreo’s, and faded off to sleep.
And somewhere in the trailer the snacker he broken even.
But in his final words I found an snack that I could keep.
You got to know
when to munch 'em, know when to crunch 'em,
Know when to use a spoon, or use a bun.
You never count your cookies, when Rob’s sittin' at the table.
There'll be time enough for sharin' when the snackin's done.
